Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Raa Meedhoo mobile app and the raameedhoo.com website (together, the “Service”), which share the same directory, map, updates, archive, island stories, guest book, and statistics content. We collect the minimum information needed to run these features and never sell your data.

The Map tab shows your position and gives directions, and the Boats tab plots nearby vessels relative to you — both use your device's location only on your device, for that purpose. We don't collect, store, or transmit your location to our servers. You can deny or revoke location access in your device's settings at any time and still use the rest of the app.

If you enable notifications, your device registers a push token (an anonymous identifier assigned by Apple/Google/Expo, not tied to your name or account) so we can notify you about new announcements, jobs, and events. The token is used only to deliver these notifications and is deleted once it's no longer valid. Turn notifications off any time from the app's Notifications tab or your device's system settings.

If you post in the Guest Book, we store what you submit: your name, an optional email address, visitor type, country, city/island, your message, and an optional profile photo.

Submissions are reviewed before they appear publicly. Your name, message, country, city, and photo (if provided) are shown publicly once approved; your email address is never shown publicly and is only used if we need to reach you about your entry. To edit or remove something you posted, email us at support@raameedhoo.com.

We use privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics (Vercel Analytics) to see aggregate, anonymized usage — for example, which pages are visited — so we can improve the Service. This data can't be used to identify you personally.

Guest Book submissions on the website are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-detection check that runs before your submission is accepted. Cloudflare may process technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) to complete this check, governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to run the Service: Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Cloudflare (anti-spam and email), Expo (push notification delivery), and FollowMe.mv (public vessel-position data shown on the Boats tab). Each processes data only as needed to provide their part of the Service.

We keep Guest Book entries and push tokens for as long as the Service operates, or until you ask us to remove them. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you've submitted by emailing support@raameedhoo.com.

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We'll update the effective date below when we do, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
